The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools is an independent, coeducational day school enrolling approximately 2188 students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Founded in 1896 by John Dewey, Lab’s progressive education is broad and deep, with an emphasis on arts, humanities, math and science. Lab is a division of the University of Chicago, and Lab students benefit from access to university professors, classes and facilities. Lab prepares students to be critical thinkers who are equipped to handle the rigors of a complex, changing and global world. Each year, Lab graduates matriculate at top four-year colleges throughout the United States and abroad.
