GISC is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the Primary Years Program (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). Through the PYP, we have strengthened our curriculum by promoting concept-based learning. In addition, we are fulfilling our school’s mission to prepare students to become well-rounded, creative, and responsible global citizens by providing them with a rigorous, world-class German/English dual-language education in a supportive and individualized learning environment. The IBO offers a Pre-K through 12th Grade framework for elementary school (PYP), middle school (Middle Years Program (MYP)), and high school (Diploma Program (DP)). With the expansion of our school to 8th grade, we transitioned to the MYP. IB teacher training will continue over the next years, and we plan to implement all three stages.
GISC is an Accredited Member School of the Independent School Association of the Central States (ISACS). We are also an official PASCH Partner School and a DSD School. The PASCH-Initiative (Partner School initiative) of the Federal Foreign Office is a global network of some 1,500 schools with the purpose to develop vivid and long-lasting links to Germany and inspire schools, teachers, and students to enjoy an open exchange of views and engage in cooperation.
Parents choose GISC not only for our German-immersion setting, but also for our bilingual, intercultural curriculum and close-knit, international community. As our families represent more than 30 different nationalities, we regularly integrate cultural and language diversity into our learning.
Parents highly value our supportive and individualized setting that nurtures curiosity and creativity. Our low student-teacher ratios allow for intensive small-group teaching and individualized learning, strong student participation and discussion, as well as accommodation of different learning styles. We also regularly have interns who work with students in small groups or individually. In addition, parents with specific expertise and knowledge as well as other professionals join us for special topics in music, biology, engineering, world religions, or architecture.
